the really funny thing about “hamilton counts as rap right” is that actually one of the coolest things about that show’s score is how lin-manuel miranda really leans into the inherent intertexuality of hip hop as a genre with deliberate and pretty well-researched references to & interpolations of other songs and artists from bith hip hop and other genres (the most obvious of these being “ten duel commandments” as a nod to “ten crack commandments” but like. there are loads) so if it IS baby’s first real exposure to rap there are actually so many easy inroads for you to be like okay cool, i really like how lmm did [xyz] thing in hamilton, let me go on genius.com and see what song/artist he’s referencing or borrowing from and listen to that bc there’s a solid chance i’ll like that as well! but if you’re the kind of person replying to a post about white people on tumblr making any excuse they can to avoid listening to black rappers in good faith & with an open mind with “does hamilton count” you are probably not planning on doing so any time soon

the anon that's so mad needs to recognize that most, if not all, kpop rappers shouldn't even be called rappers. they don't have the flow to rap properly or have the abilities to write good, clever lyrics. most rap parts in songs are just fillers and majority of kpop rappers are given the position because they can't hold a note to save their lives. kpoppies need to understand that speaking fast and having a big lung capacity ≠ good rapping (looking at those compilations of "how many syllables can x rapper rap in x amount of time"). so many kpop rap lyrics are also just gibberish. that's not to say that kpop rap can't still be fun to listen to at times, but let's be objective here. if these kpop rappers were to be thrown into an actual rap battle they'd embarrass themselves and look like jokes.

Check out BTS' stats on Billboard this week! Notable things to mention include "The Planet" debuting at #1 on the World Digital Song Sales chart, D-Day going strong on the Billboard 200 at #56, and "Angel Pt. 1" making appearances on several charts with only 16 hours of tracking!

Hip Hop Captain
- from Space Concert
- artist 009 Space Walker
- by Pop Mart
Quick Shot
Another pickup from the trade wall at Teso-X.
This very cool find is from the Pop Mart x 009 Space Walker series - a line where each character represents a genre of music, or a music playing device!
Hip-Hop Commander is exactly what he sounds like. He's got his gold chains, his track suit, his bridge chair (that he attaches to with a hidden magnet) he's an oldhead with a planet for a head. Classic old school style.
It's a big, colorful, sturdy toy with a glossy finish and a ton of charisma. Just a totally stunning little toy.
